"….Oh those of you believe ! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you in order that you may become god fearing "

Iftar follows a day of fasting and Allah (SWT) promises great rewards for those who fast in this month. Sharing Iftar in a communal gathering is a very important Sunnah. Attending discussions on the essence and significance of the holy month is also of great spiritual benefit to all Muslims.

The Centre arranges an Iftar mahfil each year. This usually includes:

  • a pre-Iftar seminar with talks from prominent scholars
  • iftar with traditional iftari dishes
  • magrib prayers in congregation with dua
  • dinner
  • taraweeh prayers in congregation

This gathering is open to all and widely attended.

Eid-Ul-Fitr & Eid-Ul-Adha

Two Eids are the most significant festivals for Muslims. Eid-ul-fitre follows the month long fasting in Ramadan. Eid-ul Adha is one of the two key festivals for Muslims and is celebrated on the day following the rites of the pilgrims on the day of Arafat, where pilgrims spend the day is prayer and supplication asking for the forgiveness of Allah and salvation and deliverance for themselves and others.

Eid Congregation

The centre arranges the Eid ul Fitr & Eid ul Adha congregational prayers on eid day each year. Following the prayers participants exchange traditional Eid greetings & sharing the various home-made sweet dishes in this hugely popular annual gathering. There are also modest gifts for each and every child present at the prayers. Alhamdu Lillah, the community at large has been supportive of this programme.

Eid Re-Union

An Eid reunion is arranged each year on the weekend following the Eid ul fitr & Eid ul Adha. This provides the community an opportunity to celebrate the Eid festival in the traditional manner with their family and friends. Participants share a special Eid dinner, with traditional dishes.
